Savusavu

On the south side of Vanua Levu this is a small town of 5000 people. It apparently has one of the larger ex-pat communities (Americans and Aussies as far as we could tell), probably due to the marina.

It's a nice place although the only real tourist attraction in town are the hot springs on the side of the hill. As we had now come to expect from Fijian tourist attractions this is just a small roped off area (with a couple of benches) where boiling hot water bubbles out of the ground, not a gift shop in sight!

ADDED 9/1/2006:
A couple of video clips of the hot springs.

Video2
(Each video is around 2MB, so will take a few minutes to download for those of you with dialup connections)
