Les Roulottes
We had read about these and decided to visit for our last meal in Tahiti. They are described in our book as Food Trailers (According to our French phrasebook the word translates as ‘Gypsy Caravans’), so we had visualised some kind of burger van type setup. Every night they gather in a public square on the waterfront and set up shop from 6pm until 1am.As is happened they did look like burger vans, but each van had plastic patio furniture laid out, complete with tablecloths and waiter service. Lots of Chinese food, but steak seemed to be a speciality along with crepes, waffles, and a couple of places barbecuing whole pigs! So, well worth a visit, and probably the best value for money you’ll get during your whole visit.
